Cattle-show certificate

Cattle-show certificate

One of the main roles of agricultural societies has been to organise shows. These shows have an educational function, but are also social events. This certificate is from the New Zealand Agricultural Society’s cattle show held at Remuera, Auckland, in 1867. The decorative border shows heads of wheat, barley and oats, as well as vegetable crops and ferns.
