This March 2002 cartoon by Ashley Smith shows Acting Minister of Customs and Minister of Agriculture and Biosecurity Jim Anderton launching a new X-ray machine to be used by Customs. New Zealand is an active supporter of international trade and transportation security standards in the fight against terrorism. As a country whose economy is strongly based on agriculture and tourism, biosecurity is also extremely important.
