Australia’s negotiations with New Zealand over a full free-trade agreement – to be known as the Australia–New Zealand closer economic relations trade agreement, ANZCERTA (CER for short) – were complex. Prime Minister Robert Muldoon was not as hostile to the agreement as this cartoon suggests.
