Arrowtown development concerns

Arrowtown development concerns

Arrowtown attracts many tourists with its appealing historical ambience, a reminder of its gold-rush days. But the number of visitors, and the ensuing development pressures, make many locals anxious. This cartoon, showing Arrowtown surrounded by snaking roads and new housing subdivisions, was used to illustrate a 2009 article about the town's growth.
