Story: Herons

A depiction for children

A depiction for children

The elegance of white herons makes them wonderful subjects for illustrated books. Chris Gaskin’s illustrations of a children’s story by Philip Temple capture the birds in their natural setting. These ones are at their breeding colony, where adults tend their chicks on twiggy nests against a backdrop of tall kahikatea trees.
