Canterbury sheep station

Henry Porcher Lance’s lithograph appeared as the frontispiece of the first edition of Lady Barker’s book, Station life in New Zealand (1870). Her account of living on a sheep run in inland Canterbury strengthened for British readers the positive image of the family farm in New Zealand.
