Kāore te iwi i kawe ā-riri i te pakanga i Waikato, engari ka pāhuatia tonutia a Rangiaowhia e ngā panewhero. Whai muri i te pakanga i Ōrākau i te tau 1864, ka tutea te iwi i tōna kāinga. Nāwai ka riro ngā whenua te raupatu. Ko te hikipapa tēnā a Ngāti Apakura ki roto o Taupō. I Tītīraupenga ka hoki kōmuri te titiro a Te Wano (he huanga nā Rangiāmoa) ki tōna kāinga tahi. Taro kau atu ka mate ia i Tītīraupenga, ā, ka tanumia ki te ana. I tōna waiata mō tōna tungāne mō Rangiāmoa,ka apakura anō ia ki ngā auheke o tōna iwi. Whakarongo mai ki a ‘E pā tō hau’.
