Big-game fishers are increasingly releasing their catch to ensure that there are fish in the future. Here Omapere fisherman John Pattison (his yellow glove is visible holding the bill) revives a striped marlin before releasing it off the Hokianga Harbour. The tags on the fish will send data to satellites each time it surfaces, providing information on its movements.
