During the 1980s the New Zealand cricket team was unusually successful and both public interest and crowd attendance at their games reached unprecedented levels. The high point of this interest came with the 1992 ICC Cricket World Cup. In the very first game at Eden Park, in Auckland, New Zealand beat Australia by 37 runs. In New Zealand's first innings captain Martin Crowe scored exactly 100 not out. Here he leaves the field chased by enthusiastic fans at the end of the innings.
