Grand reform banquet poster, 1849

In the 1840s members of the New Zealand settler community voiced their demands for democratic representation and self-government. This poster advertises a 'grand reform banquet' held in Wellington in March 1849. Some of the leading lights of Wellington listed here, including Samuel Revans, William Barnard Rhodes and Isaac Featherston, became politicians.
