Ngārimu: te Tohu Toa, 2012

This is an excerpt from the Māori-language version of Andrew Burdan and Kawata Teepa's graphic novel Ngārimu: te Tohu Toa. It recounts the story of 28th Māori Battalion soldier and Victoria Cross recipient Te Moananui-a-Kiwa Ngārimu, who died on the battlefields of Tunisia during the Second World War. Here Ngārimu struggles up the hillside, vowing not to bow down to the enemy or the mountain. He fires his tommy gun until he is the only man left standing on the summit.
