These illustrations of butterfly and moth larvae are by George Hudson, and appear in his book The butterflies and moths of New Zealand (1928). An entomologist, Hudson published three large volumes on butterflies and moths in 1898, 1928 and 1939, with over 2,500 coloured illustrations.
