Kōrero: The New Zealand bush

Bush shirts

Farmers and bushmen in New Zealand often wear thick woollen tops known as ‘bush shirts’, which keep out the cold and damp. A well-known brand of shirts is the Swanndri. In this television clip, Jamie Lowry describes how, when his sheep dogs die, he wraps them in a Swanndri before burying them. So far he has buried 17 dogs in 17 Swanndris.
