A traditional wedding

A traditional wedding

This Muslim wedding took place in Dunedin in 1991. Brian McCormack (behind girl in foreground) and his wife Ati Gantika McCormack (née Soewarno, right, under umbrella) re-enacted the ceremony which had earlier taken place in Indonesia, where they met. Brian McCormack became a Muslim while in Indonesia, and the wedding involved ancient traditions such as being given a meal by their parents for the last time.
