Childcare centre, Dunedin

Childcare centre, Dunedin

While most Cook Islanders live further north, there are active groups in Christchurch, Dunedin and Invercargill. This childcare centre, Uki Tamariki Ou Cook Islands, was opened in Dunedin in 2001. The teaching of Cook Islands Māori in preschools is at the heart of efforts to keep the language alive.
