In 2007, a core group of fans formed Yellow Fever to support the Wellington Phoenix. The name was chosen to match the team’s playing strip. Yellow Fever sit in the ‘Fever Zone’ between aisles 21 and 22 in Wellington’s Sky Stadium. Their game-day rituals include chants adapted from 1980s pop songs, many originating in English football. The ‘shirts off’ tradition at the 80-minute mark if the Phoenix are leading can be a test of loyalty in a Wellington southerly. This photo was taken in 2011 when the Phoenix played Melbourne Victory.
