Canterbury jubilee street decorations

North Colombo Street is richly decorated for the Canterbury jubilee (50th anniversary) in December 1900. The decorations were designed by noted architect Hurst Seager. Twenty-thousand yards of muslin, in 11 different colours, was suspended from Venetian masts in the centre of the city. In Colombo Street the colours were pale blue, pale yellow, cream and white.
