Children in fancy dress, 1909

Children in fancy dress, 1909

Children love to dress up and pretend to be someone else. These children from the Carter and Martin families of Wellington dressed up to perform a 'Christy Minstrel' show. The original Christy's Minstrels were a band of white American actors who dressed up as black Americans to perform a minstrel show.
