Dinner honouring returned soldiers, 1919

Sometimes people and events have been honoured at public dinners. These were particularly popular in the 19th century and still occurred in the 20th. Here, the return of soldiers from the First World War is celebrated at a large banquet in Nelson in January 1919. The soldiers are wearing their uniforms and are surrounded by well-wishing diners.
