Ronald and Zillah Castle

Ronald and Zillah Castle

From the 1930s siblings Ronald and Zillah Castle of Wellington collected musical instruments, acquiring around 500 in total. Their particular interest was in early and unusual instruments, and their home in Newtown was extended to house the collection. This is the Castles playing a spinet (the keyboard instrument) and viol in 1956.
