This march from Te Hāpua, Northland, to Wellington was held in August and September 1981 to draw attention to the rights of youth in a time of economic downturn. The event emphasised the social and economic rights of youth – particularly Māori and those from rural areas – to jobs, education, recreational facilities and a say in decision-making. These marchers are near the end of their journey, passing through Tawa.
