Mayor Harry Barker and the queen

Harry Barker served as mayor of Gisborne from 1950 to 1977, making him the longest-serving mayor in New Zealand’s history at 2011. In this picture he escorts Queen Elizabeth II on her visit to Gisborne in 1970, in association with the Cook bicentennial celebrations.
