SEATO Ministerial Council

Prime Minister Keith Holyoake (third from right) chairs a Ministerial Council of SEATO (South East Asia Treaty Organization) in Wellington in 1968. In 1954 New Zealand had been a founding member of SEATO, which was designed to block communist advances in the region.
