Graffiti on R. H. Wyche’s shop, Wellington

New Zealand was not always the promised land for Irish immigrants. The graffiti on R. H. Wyche's shoemaking shop suggests that he preferred Irish landlords to the 'creeping commissio[n]ers' and 'crawling rangers' of the Wellington Land Board.
