Family man, Wellington, 1937

Family man, Wellington, 1937

This unidentified Wellington family were photographed just a few years before the start of the Second World War in the front garden of their house in the inner-city suburb of Te Aro. The man has his shirtsleeves rolled (perhaps a way of relaxing after work) and his wife wears an apron, signalling her focus on domestic tasks. The 'family man' hugs his wife while she holds her daughter close.
