Kōrero: Manufacturing – an overview

Early manufacturing

Early manufacturing

W. Dalton, plumber, tinsmith and all-round metalworker, was typical of many early manufacturers. He had a small business serving a local area (Feilding), and undertook a wide range of work. As his shop-front shows, he made baths, tanks, chimneys, furnace frames and dairy utensils. If a prospective customer turned up wanting something else made of metal, W. Dalton probably produced it.
