Shining gum (Eucalyptus nitens) has been planted in steep gullies on this farm alongside Lake Arapuni in Waikato. Shining gum can be used for firewood or for hardwood timber. Apart from providing an extra source of revenue to the farm, the woodlot helps to prevent soil erosion, which protects the quality of the water flowing into Lake Arapuni and the Waikato River.
