Kapa haka festival

Anaru Grant from Ngāti Rangiwewehi performs at the 2002 Aotearoa Traditional Maori Performing Arts Society (kapa haka) Festival. It was hosted by Ngāti Whātua o Ōrākei at Bastion Point. Teams of 40 members perform a series of items, including whakaeke (entrance), waiata-ā-ringa (action songs) and haka (war dances). The festival attracted 100,000 spectators and was won by the East coast team Waihīrere.
