Mixed shrubland, Wellington south coast

Mixed shrubland, Wellington south coast

Young shrublands on the coastal hills near Wellington resemble a mosaic. Māhoe and other bright-green broadleaved shrubs grow in the gully. Mingimingi (Coprosma propinqua) and other divaricating shrubs clothe the valley slopes, along with yellow-flowered gorse on recently burnt sites. Tauhinu shrubs are starting to colonise the upper grassy slopes.
