Mataī and kahikatea foliage

The adult mataī (top) has needle-like foliage. Kahikatea (bottom) has tiny, flat leaves on young plants and scale-like leaves on adult branches. Both leaf forms can be seen on this branch from a juvenile kahikatea tree.
