Seamen’s Union banner

Seamen’s Union banner

The Federated Seamen’s Union was one of New Zealand’s most influential trade unions in the late 1800s and early 1900s. This banner, painted for the union’s centenary in 1979, depicts some of the technological changes in shipping during the previous century.
