Parliamentary debate on digital copyright infringement

In this film of part of the debate on the Copyright (Infringing File Sharing) Amendment Act 2011, the Green Party's spokesperson on the issue, Gareth Hughes, discusses the balance between protecting the rights of copyright owners and the dangerous consequences of terminating infringers' access to the internet. Following the debate the amendment act was passed and did provide for the penalty of disconnection for infringing rights, but only as a last resort.
