Women's clothes, 1900s to 1940s

Women's clothing changed dramatically between the 1900s and 1920s – the long, shaped, feminine dresses of the start of the century gave way to short, loose and low-waisted shift-style dresses two decades later. By the 1930s, waists returned to their usual positions and garments were more shaped, though never to the extent that they had been in earlier decades.
