This 1930 poster offers New Zealanders reduced fares to go on an Easter holiday by rail. It was one of many striking posters produced by New Zealand Railways’ Publicity Branch, which pioneered the development of poster art in New Zealand. From the mid-1890s NZR offered ‘extended’ Christmas and Easter excursion tickets, and advertised them through home-delivered handbills as well as commercially printed posters.
