Kōrero: Octopus and squid

Vampire squid logo

Vampire squid logo

Looking more like an octopus than a squid, vampire squid are deep-water cephalopods with a world-wide distribution in tropical and temperate waters. Although relatively small – about the size of an adult’s hand when fully grown – they have the largest eyes of any animal in proportion to their size. This vampire squid is the logo for artist Bruce Mahalski.
