Story: Street life
There was at least one night when city streets came alive: late shopping night, when shops stayed open to nine o’clock. In most cities this was Friday night. Families and friends would flock to town to shop, or window-shop, attracted by the ‘big city’ lights and bustling atmosphere. This is Napier’s Emerson Street on a late shopping night in 1970.
