This digital app (smartphone application) was developed by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust (which became Heritage New Zealand) to provide engaging information about the major battle sites of the Waikato war (1863–64). It includes an audio guide as well as images, maps and short nuggets of information. Such developments, along with other digital outputs such as the websites NZHistory and Te Ara – The Encyclopedia of New Zealand, have seen modern historical research translated into forms that are accessible to a broader range of people.
