Wellington's Schola Cantorum, established in 1936, soon developed a reputation for excellence. Members are shown here in rehearsal in 1955. That year, with the National Orchestra, they performed a programme of works by New Zealand composers to celebrate Dominion Day. Listen to them sing part of a work from that concert, 'A delightsome land', written by their conductor Stanley Oliver for the 1940 centennial celebrations.
