Since the 1960s many lesser-known operas have been performed in New Zealand by music students studying at universities and polytechnics. Here students of the New Zealand School of Music present a three-act opera, Il corsaro, in 2013 to mark the bicentenary of Verdi’s birth. Centre stage are Christian Thurston, playing Pasha Seid, and Thomas Atkins as Corrado.
