New Zealand's refusal to allow nuclear-armed or -powered ships into its waters was not warmly received by either the United States or Australia. This cartoon by Alan Moir, published in the Sydney Morning Herald in 1986, suggested that David Lange of New Zealand was not sharing in the heavy lifting being undertaken by Bob Hawke of Australia and Ronald Reagan of the US.
