In 2006 Jill Caldwell and Christopher Brown put forward an analysis of New Zealand society as a series of eight tribes, defined by cultural style. In this clip the authors discuss two of the tribes – the Balclutha tribe who are provincial people, conservative and staunch; and the Cuba Street tribe who are trendy and bohemian.
