Alexandra Redoubt

Alexandra Redoubt was built in the shape of a parallelogram on a bluff overlooking the Waikato River at Tūakau in 1863. It is among the best preserved of the military posts built during the New Zealand wars. This image appeared in the Illustrated London News in 1863.
