By the 1990s women were appearing on boards of directors, particularly those of government-funded organisations. Their presence on boards indicates their achievement in other areas. In this video clip from 1999, Te Papa board members discuss a possible logo for the museum. Those speaking are (from left), Heather Ware, Te Papa marketing and developing co-ordinator (with director Cheryll Sotheran sitting next to her), art patron and philanthropist Jenny Gibbs, corporate and commercial lawyer David Gascoigne, former National Party president Sue Wood, and businessman and chair of the Te Papa board Sir Ron Trotter.
