Announcing a new ministry

Announcing a new ministry

Prime Minister John Key holds Spike, a 25-year-old tuatara bred in captivity for Victoria University's tuatara research programme. He was speaking at the February 2011 launch of the new Ministry of Science and Innovation, which arose from merging two separate bodies, the Ministry of Research, Science and Technology and the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology. The structural change was an outcome of cabinet decision-making.
