Female chaffinches have a brown head and nape, and, the short stubby beak of most seed-eating birds. Their double white wing bar can be clearly seen here. Female chaffinches build neat nests of dry grass and moss, usually in the fork of a tree, and incubate the eggs. Both parents feed the nestlings.
