In 1898, 30 years after he had first joined the Masons, Richard Seddon, then premier, became the Most Worshipful Grand Master of the Masonic Lodge of New Zealand. Here he is shown dressed in the full Grand Master regalia. The Masons attracted many significant public figures in New Zealand at that time.
