E whātōtō ana a Tāmure rāua ko Kaiwhare, te taniwha kaitangata. Kitea ai tōna ana i ngā wai o Piha. He toa a Tamure, nō Hauraki a ia; ko tana rākau, he mere pounamu patu taniwha. Ka haere a ia ki Piha i runga i te tono a te iwi kāinga, ka pakanga ki te taniwha rā. Nāwai ā, ka taotū a Kaiwhare; atu i konei ka mutu tana kai tangata, ka noho ko te kōura me te wheke anake āna kai.
