In 2007, the American Humane Association presented New Zealand with an award to mark the success of the family group conference system. Roy Ferguson, the New Zealand Ambassador to the United States of America and Marie Connolly, the chief social worker at Child, Youth and Family (now Oranga Tamariki – Ministry for Children), hold the trophies.
