E kī ana te kōrero nā Hine-pūkohu-rangi a Te Maunga i whakawai kia heke iho i ngā rangi ki te whenua. Nā rāua ko Pōtiki, te tipuna o Ngāi Tūhoe. Nā reira ka whānau te iwi o Tūhoe mai i ōna maunga me te kohu e kākahu ana i a rātou.
