Story: Occupational structure

Managers (2nd of 2)

Managers and professionals, like these men and women attending a 1983 advanced management seminar, tend to be much older than the average New Zealand worker. In 2006, 93% of managers and 92% of professionals were over 25.

Four of the people in this photograph later became public service chief executives: David Henry and Graham Holland (Inland Revenue), Rob Laking (Ministry of Housing) and Garry Wilson (Accident Compensation Corporation).
